Blight was the male District 7 tribute for the 75th Hunger Games. Blight was also a victor of an unspecified Hunger Games and was known to be a close friend to most of the other competitors in the 75th Games. Blight was part of a rebellion against the Capitol, run by Plutarch Heavensbee.
75th Hunger GamesEdit
Blight was a victor who was reaped to take part in The 75th Hunger Games. He was apparently not too keen on the idea of it all, as he never showed up for training before hand, but like Johanna, he would have been a tree for the chariot rides throughout the ring in the Capitol. At an unknown point, Blight and Johanna were called upon by Haymitch, much like Wiress, Beetee, Finnick, Mags, The Morphlings, Cecelia, Woof, Seeder and Chaff. Johanna and Blight were told to work as a team to make sure Wiress and Beetee both managed to survive, get them to Katniss, and carry out Plutarch's plan to spark a full out rebellion.
By the time Johanna and Blight got to The Cornucopia, Katniss was long gone and Beetee had recently arrived at the Cornucopia. Beetee ran to retrieve his wire from The Cornucopia, but he was stabbed when he got there, presumably by a career. Johanna and Blight then managed to drag Beetee out of there and retrieve Wiress before escaping the massacre.
Twelve tolls from a bell at midnight starting the second day signaled that the Bloodbath was over and that the clock had started. Blight, Johanna, Wiress and Beetee had been wandering around the jungle in search for Katniss, Peeta, Mags, and Finnick and were now getting dehydrated. The lighting storm that happened throughout the jungle just behind them and the now looming dark clouds over top of them made them believe that rain was coming and that they could finally quench their thirst.
What came down was hot and heavy blood. It poured endlessly for an hour, and as Blight, Johanna, Wiress and Beetee were trying to take cover, Blight accidentally ran head first into the force-field along they edge of the arena, he was thrown backwards and his heart had stopped. His death was around 2:00 A.M., as shortly after his cannon blasted to signal his death, the blood rain had stopped and the acidic fog had started. His death startled Katniss, who was on watch duty not far from Blight's position, and caused Wiress to go into some form of shock. This left Johanna to drag unconscious Beetee and watch out for the unstable Wiress, which angered her. Finnick and Johanna mourned Blight when they met up, Johanna saying that "He wasn't much, but he was from home", signifying that she took his death rather hard.
- Blight is another word for sickness.
